New all-inclusive pass, bowling alley and ladies-only heliski package are only a taste of what is on offer this year at Silver Star
VERNON, BRITISH COLUMBIA, August 30, 2012 –
This will be a winter to remember at Silver Star Mountain Resort with
so many new offerings complimenting the 700 centimeters of champagne
powder that falls annually on its slopes.
Highlighting the season is the
introduction of Canada’s first all-inclusive season’s pass and day
ticket and Western Canada’s largest groomed XC trail system. Whether
it’s challenging the resort’s new bowling alley, combining skiing and
golf with the Ski to Tee package or gathering the girls for a heliski
program aimed just at the ladies, Silver Star is poised for yet another
exciting season.
NEW My1Pass
In honor of its’ ten-millionth skier visit, Silver Star Mountain Resort introduces Canada’s 1st all-inclusive season pass and day ticket. NEW Dual Area XC Pass and Camps
Silver Star and neighboring Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre will now provide a Dual Area XC Trail Pass and co-host early season XC camps. This unprecedented step now places the combined 'Super Trail System' on Silver Star Mountain as the largest groomed XC trail system in Western Canada and second largest in the country. Nordic skiers of all abilities can now access a combined 105 kilometers of groomed and track set trails on one pass. The resorts new Super Camps offer the best in early season training. Known for some of the best early snow in the world they’re guaranteed to launch your ski season on the right track!
NEW Head Pins Bowling Alley at FireLight Lodge
Opening for the 2012-13 winter season, Head Pins Bowling will offer 3 lanes of 10 pin bowling to guests of the resort. Along with bowling the venue will include a small licensed restaurant offering casual dining. This will be a great off the snow activity for families in an area already famous for fun family things to do.
NEW Ladies Only Heliskiing Package
After year one of offering amazing heliskiing in the Monashee Mountains, Silver Star will be at it again next year offering a Chromosome X Only Heli Skiing package that features breakfast at Bugaboos sinfully delicious bakery café, a women’s only day of heliskiing, a fun après bragging session and picture slide show, all wrapped up with a relaxing massage at the Ousia Day Spa.
NEW Snowshoeing at Silver Star
Silver Star has just opened 16kms of single-track trails weaving in and around the forested area around the village. Trails are of varying difficulty and are clearly marked with hand carved wooden signs and reflective markers so they may be used at night. Trail passes are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors & children or FREE with a valid alpine pass.
NEW Ski to Tee Package
Enjoy the best of both worlds in the Okanagan valley where you can go from skiing all natural silky smooth Silver Star snow to teeing it up at one of Vernon’s golf courses in about 30 minutes. Every year at the end of March (Mother Nature dependent) this amazing collision of two of these two favorite sports happens.
NEW Family Day on Sunday
There’s something special about Sunday mornings in the Okanagan when it’s not the alarm clock you wake to, but the aroma of homemade waffles that wakes you and the anticipation of a day reserved for one thing only – family time. Now Sundays are even more special with Silver Star’s “Family Day” where one adult and two children can rent all the gear they need and explore the entire mountain for just $129. We understand there’s no such thing as a ‘regular family’ so we’ve made it easy to add on adults (for just $55) and children (for just $35). Package includes full mountain access lift ticket and standard rental equipment (skis/board, boots & poles).
Wine Festival - 3rd Annual Wine and Dine at Silver Star
Indulge and enlighten your taste-buds with the 3rd Annual Wine & Dine at Silver Star. This event comes complete with a unique food and wine pairing dinner, seminars, including ‘taste like a pro’ hosted by the Okanagan’s own sommelier Rainer Wilkins and an amazing chocolate making session, a ‘Tasting Extraordinaire’ evening exhibiting more than 20 of the Okanagan’s finest wineries, local restaurants and a silent auction.
The Dark Side of the Star
Silver Star definitely has a backside that will challenge any hardcore enthusiast. With over 60 runs serviced by the high-speed Powder Gulch Quad, Putnam Creek is renowned for black diamond runs and deep powder snow that will test even the most fervent skier or snowboarder. Winch-cat grooming nightly creates steep fall line cruising that will leave you breathless.
