Detroit welcomes baseball fans

(News Release)

Detroit, Mich. - Detroit and its hospitality community are roaring and ready to
welcome visitors for the 2012 World Series. The Detroit Metro Convention &
Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) and Detroit Sports Commission (DSC) are already making
preparations for a warm welcome.

The DMCVB is printing pole banners to hang downtown along Jefferson and Woodward
Avenues, printing welcome signs for the airport and storefronts, creating D
buttons for fans and coordinating volunteers to serve as Detroit ambassadors on
game days.

"The World Series is the biggest national marquee event that Detroit has hosted
since the Frozen Four in 2010 and we're ready to prove to the world once again
that Detroit is the sports capital," said Dave Beachnau, DSC executive director.

"We encourage baseball fans to sample our top entertainment options while they
are here, from our bars, restaurants and casinos to our attractions, shopping
and museums," said Beachnau.

The DMCVB estimates that direct spending for the World Series will be up to $26
million if three games are played in Detroit.

"Our hospitality partners are pulling out all the stops to make sure visitors
have a pleasant experience while in The D," said Beachnau. "This is yet another
opportunity for Detroit to shine again on the national stage to change
perceptions and show visitors that Detroit is a vibrant city with much to see
and do."
