BDA-Docs-Good-ol-Freda
3 p.m. - GOOD OL' FREDA
United States / 86 minutes / Rated: PG

Freda Kelly was a shy teenager when she was plucked from her desk at a Liverpool typing pool - and invited to become the first secretary and manager of The Beatles fan club. Freda spent 11 years with John, Paul, George and Ringo, playing a central role as they developed from local heartthrobs into the world's most popular rock 'n' roll band. Freda was a member of the band's trusted inner circle because of her unfaltering loyalty and dedication. She was there for the advances and setbacks, breakthroughs and challenges, and now she tells her story for the first time in this delightful, entertaining and insightful portrait. One of a few documentaries with the support of the living Beatles, and featuring original Beatles music, the film offers an affectionate insider's perspective of one of the most beloved bands in history.
"Oscar worthy...Kelly is a complete charmer. Prepare to fall in love with her." - Atlanta Magazine.
5.15 p.m. - IN A WORLD

United States / 93 minutes / Rated: R

Lake Bell won the Screenwriting Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival for In a World, which she also directs and stars in. This is a hilarious and heartfelt rollicking romantic comedy about Carol (Bell), a struggling vocal coach who strikes it big in the cut-throat world of movie trailer voiceovers only to find herself in direct competition with the industry's reigning king - her father. The film features a tremendous ensemble cast, including cameos by Geena Davis, Eva Longoria and Cameron Diaz. As romantic sparks begin to fly with charming sound engineer Louis - and with her budding career and sense of self on the line - Carol finds herself facing a momentous decision: whether to give in to her father's bullying or go all out for the job as the official voice of a blockbuster, female-centred "quadrilogy" - and finally begin living life on her own terms.

Winner, Screenwriting Award, 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

"In a World...' is pretty much a perfect movie, chock full of fun, endless laughter, realistic love and that all-important magical movie ingredient - originality." - film.com
