Hailed as the first and only authentic links golf course in Canada, Cabot upgrades golf course and adds to its food and beverage program

CABOT LINKS GOLF COURSE DEBUTS NEW ADDITIONS

CAPE BRETON, NOVA SCOTIA – Lauded as “the Best New Course for 2012” by SCOREGolf and “one of the most important new courses in the world” by Golf Digest, Cabot Links has a series of new additions and upgrades.

On the golf course, the latest addition is the new 12th hole. The hole was built last spring by Canadian-designer Rod Whitman after Cabot Links acquired a beautiful piece of land, increasing the number of ocean-side holes to six.

A new online booking engine has been introduced, letting guests book their accommodation and golf rounds online, for the first time.

“After a very successful first season, we are excited and very ready to take our operations to the next level,” says Ben Cowan-Dewar, co-owner of Cabot Links. “We look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests where they will be greeted by many of the same staff from last year with our warm Cape Breton hospitality.”

Located on the stunning west coast of Cape Breton, Cabot Links features a full 18-hole par-70 course in addition to deluxe accommodations at Cabot Links Lodge. The property is co-owned by Toronto businessman, Ben Cowan-Dewar and Mike Keiser of Bandon Dunes fame.

Cabot Links is Canada’s first authentic links course, characterized by its rugged, oceanfront landscape and firm and fast links. The holes spread from the town of Inverness out toward the sea, with each offering a breathtaking ocean view. Six holes play directly alongside the beach. In the tradition of true links golf, the course is walking-only with caddies available, and recommended, for hire.

Cabot Links’ food and beverage program has also seen significant expansion. Cabot Bar has been renovated by Designer Alexandra Angle (who also designed the hotel’s guest rooms), transforming it into a warm, welcoming, lobby bar. The bar’s patio expanded to reach the 18th hole of the golf course, giving diners a stunning view of the course and the ocean.

New for this season is The Cabot Public House, a renovated former pub, which seats approximately 75 people and is conveniently, located less than 100 yards from the Clubhouse. Panorama Restaurant has updated their menu, and will still feature many of the same favourites, prepared with local ingredients and fresh seafood.

Room rates start from $235/night (for a Cabot Double room) and green fees are $130 through October 14th for resort guests.
